OurStory
We first met on May 29th, 2017 at Press Play, a popular bar in Boulder, Colorado. Lilly was finishing her senior year as a Communications major at CU Boulder, while Robert was working as a Software Engineer at Bonusly, a tech startup.
That first night, we talked for hours about our interests, discovered that we were both from similar areas in California, and bonded over our shared passion for music. It didn’t take long for us to discover how similar our Spotify playlists and favorites artists were, and that drew us even closer to one another. From that night forward, our connection grew stronger as we shared our lives with each other and built a new one together—filled with love, adventure, friends, family, and a continued passion for music and travel.
After a year and a half of dating in Boulder, Robert accepted a new job at Amazon, leading us to relocate to San Jose, California and move in together. While San Jose had it’s positives, we ultimately decided a year later to move to Bend, Oregon, drawn by the natural beauty and endless outdoor adventures the area offered. While living in Bend, we adopted Kiwi, our beloved Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix, and spent most of our days hiking and exploring with her in the Deschutes National Forest.
Though we loved Bend, and it will always be our favorite city, we decided to move back to Denver in October 2020 to be closer to our friends. Shortly afterward, in December 2021, we bought our first home in Arvada, Colorado and soon adopted our sweet Golden Retriever, Yuzu, whose goofy personality has been the best addition to our (and Kiwi’s) life.
Our love for travel and adventure has been a constant thread in our story. Whether hiking scenic trails, exploring new cities, or savoring local culinary delights, we just love experiencing the world together. One of our most treasured and memorable trips was a three-week adventure through Switzerland with a few of our closest friends. During this trip, on January 16th, 2023, Robert proposed. While in Locarno, Switzerland, we took a funicular train followed by a gondola ride that led us to the top of Cardada mountain. Robert led us out to the Passerella Panoramica di Cardada overlook and Lilly actually exclaimed “Wow! This would be the perfect spot to propose!” Little did she know, Robert was about to do just that. He got down on one knee and asked her to “make this official” and marry him, and she immediately said “Yes, of course!!”.
Our bond strengthens with every passing day, and we’re thrilled to begin this new chapter surrounded by our loved ones. The future holds so much to look forward to—new memories, experiences, and endless love—and we can’t wait to enjoy it all by each others’ side the whole way through!

Lilly has not only been an amazing partner and friend for the past (almost) eight years but has also enriched my life with her warmth, sense of humor, and smile every step of the way. Together, we’ve traveled across the country, creating unforgettable memories before finally settling in Colorado, where we’ve built a wonderful life with our two dogs, Kiwi and Yuzu.
Lilly continually pushes herself by embracing new challenges, whether it’s going back to school for Interior Design or hosting extravagant yearly Friendsgivings. Her efforts to show care for those around her and her ability to make others feel included are genuinely inspiring.
Today, she’s thriving as an Interior Designer for Thurston, one of Denver’s premier Kitchen and Bath showrooms, where she brings the same attention to detail and care that is present in every other part of her life.
I’m incredibly lucky to have found a partner who complements me so perfectly and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Robert is a dream partner to me in every way, and an amazing friend to everyone who is lucky enough to be a part of his life. He is thoughtful, witty, generous, and supportive, while adding just the right amount of chaos to every situation to make life fun.
As a talented senior software engineer for Shopify, he is not only intelligent but also constantly creative and driven to go above and beyond. From his natural leadership of complex projects to the ever growing list of “Robert’s ideas” in my Notes app, he shows everyone around him that you can always count on him to approach life with unwavering determination, creative problem-solving, and a sincere dedication to continuous improvement. This also extends into his personal life, as he is always inspiring those around him to strive for more from life as well.
His confidence and courage shine through in everything he does, whether it’s fearlessly skiing and snowboarding down steep, snowy slopes, or playing hockey with the relentless energy of someone who’s been at it their whole life. He always says yes to trying any new activity that comes his way, and I admire his ability to pick up new hobbies so quickly and succeed at pretty much anything he sets his mind to.
Every day, he makes me feel appreciated, inspired, and dearly loved. He supports our life and future with constant encouragement and loyalty. He stands firm in his beliefs and opinions, yet remains compassionate and understanding toward others. He is truly the most amazing person I’ve ever met, and I feel incredibly lucky to spend the rest of my life with him by my side.
