We're so thrilled to have each and every one of you join us in Sitges, Spain, for our wedding celebration. We know it’s quite the journey, and we can’t thank you enough for making the effort.

Sitges is a lovely seaside town filled with history, amazing food, and beautiful beaches. Whether you’re strolling through its charming streets or enjoying delicious tapas by the sea, there’s something wonderful around every corner.

We’re excited to not only share our wedding day with you but also to create incredible memories together in such an beautiful place. Get ready for a fantastic mix of celebration, exploration, and relaxation as we celebrate this special moment surrounded by our favorite people.

Flying to Barcelona

For our guests traveling from the United States, the easiest way to reach Sitges is by flying into Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, conveniently situated just outside the city. As a major international hub, Barcelona offers excellent connectivity and a wide array of flight options, making it an ideal starting point for your journey. You’ll be happy to know that most major airlines operate flights to Barcelona, so if you have a preferred airline, chances are you can fly with them. For those looking to compare prices and options, flight aggregators like Google Flights, Hopper, Expedia, or Momondo are excellent tools to find the most reasonable choices.

Barcelona Airport (BCN) features two terminals designed to accommodate different types of travel.

  • Terminal 1 is primarily dedicated to international flights and services most major airlines.

  • Terminal 2 is more focused on regional and domestic flights, and is divided into three separate sections: T2A, T2B, and T2C.

Given that the terminals are situated about three miles apart, it's essential to confirm which terminal your flight will arrive at to ensure a smooth experience. There’s a free shuttle between the two terminals if you need to get from one to the other.

Barcelona to Sitges

Sitges is located just 30 minutes outside of Barcelona, offering several travel options to suit your preferences. We recommend taking the bus or train for a scenic and straightforward journey, though taxis or rideshares are also readily available. For those who prefer the flexibility of driving, car rentals are a popular choice. Be sure to familiarize yourself with Spanish driving laws and consider obtaining an international driving permit before you arrive.

Taxis and Rideshare

In Barcelona, both taxis and rideshare services are available to navigate the city and beyond. Taxis are easily hailed on the streets or at designated ranks, providing a traditional and reliable option for reaching your destination. Meters ensure fair rates, making it a straightforward choice for those preferring immediate service.

Alternatively, rideshare services like Uber and Cabify are readily available in Barcelona, offering the ease of booking through a smartphone app. Rideshares often provide an upfront fare estimate and the ability to choose from different vehicle types, allowing for a personalized travel experience.

Busses and Trains

Public transportation offers a convenient and cost-effective way to explore Spain, with frequent schedules ensuring a direct route to the heart of Sitges.

For those opting for the bus, departures to Sitges are conveniently located at Bus Bay 7 in front of Terminal 1. The buses run approximately every hour on weekdays, every two hours on Saturdays, and every four hours on Sundays.

The train to Sitges departs from the area opposite Terminal 2B. If your arrival is at Terminal 1, simply take the complimentary shuttle bus to Terminal 2. While the train route is not direct, requiring a change at El Prat de Llobregat, it offers a scenic and enjoyable journey to your destination.

Car Rentals

For those seeking the flexibility to explore at their own pace, car rentals provide an excellent option for traveling to Sitges and beyond. Renting a car allows you to enjoy the scenic routes and discover hidden gems along the coast at your leisure. However, it's essential to familiarize yourself with local Spanish driving laws to ensure a safe and pleasant journey.

Before you arrive, consider obtaining an international driving permit, which can be crucial for navigating rental agreements and avoiding potential fines. Parking can be difficult to find in Sitges, but this might be the best option if you’re planning on exploring off the beaten path.

Once in Sitges

Sitges is a very walkable town, stretching just about 2.5 miles in length. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the scenic oceanfront path, lined with charming shops and delightful restaurants. Depending on your accommodations (refer to Accommodations for details), many hotels conveniently offer shuttles to popular areas of town. Additionally, three public bus routes can effortlessly guide you to various attractions throughout the city.

Should you wish to explore beyond Sitges, we highly recommend taking the train. The centrally located train station provides access to picturesque coastal towns nearby. Barcelona is approximately a half-hour journey to the northeast, while Vilanova is a mere 10-minute ride southwest.

Our wedding celebration will take place in the serene foothills north of Sitges. We will be providing a shuttle service for guests to ensure a seamless experience, with additional details to be shared as the date approaches.

What to expect with food

Sitges offers a wide range of food options that cater to various tastes and dietary preferences. The town is known for its fresh seafood, traditional Catalan dishes, and an increasing variety of international cuisines. Meals in Sitges typically follow the Spanish custom of a late lunch, often between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, which is the main meal of the day. Dinner is generally served later in the evening, from 8 PM onwards. Many restaurants offer a "menu del día" at lunchtime, providing a set menu with several courses at a reasonable price.

When planning your meals in Sitges, rest assured that dietary restrictions are commonly accommodated. Many eateries offer vegetarian and gluten-free options, and chefs are usually willing to adjust dishes to suit your needs if you communicate your dietary requirements. For those seeking specific dietary alternatives, it's worth exploring local health food stores and markets, which often carry organic and specialty products. Whether you wish to savor the local flavors or seek out something familiar, Sitges' vibrant dining scene ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy during their stay.
